Week 5
Do you know what this picture represents? Why have I added it to the blog today?
G'day all
I hope you've all had a very good week. After our reading about Clean Up Australia Day last Thursday, did anyone take part in the event?
Don't forget to write up the answers from last week's activity in your blog. Keep your draft and write up the amended version.
By the way, I'd like to remind you that your blog will form part of your reading portfolio for this unit, so please make sure you write up or answer any questions in your blog every week! It will be hard to catch up if you fall behind! I'll give you a grid next week whcih shows what you where you should be up to and it will have room to add the topics each week! It will be a good reference for you!
How are you coping in the AEFS course overall? Is it meeting your expectations? Are your English skills improving? Are you learning a lot? Is the homework too much? too little? too hard? too easy? Please put a comment at the end of this post telling me your feelings/opinions etc. It doesn't have to be too long!
Jennifer told me that you watched some video about both Clean Up Australia Day and Azaria Chamberlain. What did you find easier? Watching/listening or reading?
After the long texts you've had to read in the computer class over the past 2 lessons, I thought it was time today to give you something as challenging but of a different nature! Click on this link to Natural English and complete all the exercises. Then click on the link to Textbuilder and try your hand at the reading tasks! Not as easy as they look!
If you finish all that then you can find out about the event that's celebrated all around the world today! Why is it important and how long has it being going?
I couldn't resist this Youtube video explaining an English idiom!
Happy blogging!

I'm not interested in writing a report or an eassy,I need to know how to write a correct paragraph. Can I go to OET class ,I think this suitable for my to be a pharmacist. As a pharmacist there is no need to have a master degree in writing a report
ReplyDeleteI feel coping in the AEFS course overall, and I think my English skills improving. You, other teachers and all classmates are very nice, kind and passional, so I am very happy in this course. However sometimes I feel we have a rather lots of homework because I work in the evening. I'd like to rest on the weekend without homework. Thanks~~~~~
ReplyDeleteOne more thing, could you check my first blogging?

AEFS is a pretty good course for me, especially because it is the first course I'm doing from the beginning and in which I'm improving all English skills. As far as reading is concerned, I would like to have more oral practice and a little bit more homework (eg. You could ask from us to read an article or story and we would retell it in the class). I like reading skills - you make it very interesting and fun which is a good way for keeping attention amongst all of us. And, also, I like your English :-) because it is very clear!
ReplyDeleteHi! Marion. I published the summary of Clean Up Australia. Could you check for me? See you on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI like this course and everyone is so kind. After 6 weeks I think that my reading is going better and I have more confidence to speak English. Reading is very interesting, we read a lot of exciting stories and do many useful excercises. From my point of view Marion is a perfect teacher and I enjoy the way she teach us. I don't have anything to add. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry for a late comment.
ReplyDeleteAfter studying this course for a few weeks, I found it really good and suitable for me. I have learnt many study English skills during these days and my English is improved nearly every day form the class, especially the formal and informal words. When I do the homework, I found some is easy but some is a little bit difficult for me, and I think the homework is good to be a little bit more.
Finally, I'm so happy to see you and the familiar blog again. I enjoy your teaching very much! :)
Hi Marion.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to learn some new vocabulary everyday.I think listening is most difficult for me.Because Australian people speak English very quickly so sometimes I can't understand them at once.Reading is much better than listening,if I find some new words that I unknown. I will look at the context and guess the meaning first.Later I will use my dictionary to check it. Then I will understand the text.BTW,I really like the jokes and something can make my speaking lively and interesting, thank you!
Hi, Marion,
ReplyDeleteSorry to give you the comments so late, because I was thinking about this question for a whole week (KK_).
Seriously, I do think this is a good course for English improvement. I can tell the teaching group made a structural and logical plan for this course and you try to help all of us in the classroom. Honestly, I found it is quiet useful for me to prepare my exam.
If something I have to say, I just built up my house with a lot of language defects, and this is the time to make it up and make it stable and functional.
Hi Everyone.
ReplyDeleteLearning English in AEFS has been such a great experience. All the subjects are tremendously interesting and useful for building up new English skills. Going through all of these I can't choose which one is nicer!. However I consider writing is my major weakness. I honestly can't follow the way Anne teaches it and it is so confusing for me. I reckon I must practice grammar on my own and off course I need to write more. The supports of all the teachers encourage me to study, practice and improve. In addition TAFE offers a variety of benefits such as counselling and job seeking advice, which I highly recommend because this could really improve your life.
To sum up I'm motivated to keep going till I get an excellent English level which will allow me to get an enjoyable job and a better standard of living for me and my family, and AEFS is a great place to start!.
I have been studying English in the AEFS course for 6 weeks. I have learned a lot from the teachers who are very professional and very nice. They have given us a lot of information and new knowledge. Sometimes I cannot totally understand and I feel it is a little bit hard, but I feel my English is better than before. How to organise a complete and accurate sentence is one of my problems. Most of the time I cannot express what I want to say in English. I know I should read more articles, but I do not know which level of articles suit me, becase sometimes when I read an article I cannot get the the autor’s meaning. So if the teachers can give us some advice about that, I think it would be helpful. Anyway, I will try my best to keep up with my teachers.
